The Whispering Bamboo Grove (ಮೂಂಗಿನ ಕಾಡಿನ ಗುಸುಗುಸು)
ಮಲೆನಾಡಿನ ಮಂಜಿನ ನಡುವೆ ಹುದುಗಿದ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶಂಕರಪ್ಪ ಎಂಬ ರೈತನಿದ್ದ. ಅವನಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯ ಮೂಂಗಿನ ಕಾಡು. ಬಿಸಿಲ ಬೇಗೆಗೆ ಬೆಳೆಗಳು ಬಾಡಿ, ಭೂಮಿ ಬಿರುಕು ಬಿಟ್ಟಾಗ, ಶಂಕರಪ್ಪನ ಮನ ಕಂಗೆಟ್ಟಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಆ ಮೂಂಗಿನ ಕಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತಾಗ, ಗಾಳಿಯ ರಾಗಕ್ಕೆ ತಲೆದೂಗುವ ಬಿದಿರಿನ ಲಯಬದ್ಧ ಗುಸುಗುಸು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೊಸ ಚೈತನ್ಯ ತುಂಬಿತು. ಪ್ರಕೃತಿ ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಸೋಲೊಪ್ಪುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬುದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮನದಟ್ಟಾಯಿತು.
The Old Banyan’s Wisdom (ಆಲದ ಮರದ ಬುದ್ಧಿವಾದ)
ಬಸವರಾಜು ಎಂಬ ಯುವ ಉದ್ಯಮಿಗೆ ಸೋಲು ಎಂಬ ಕಹಿ ಉಂಡೆ ಕೊರಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿತ್ತು. ಊರ ಹೊರಗಿನ ಆಲದ ಮರದಡಿ ಕುಳಿತು, ಬೇರುಗಳು ಹೇಗೆ ಆಳಕ್ಕೆ ಇಳಿದು, ಭೂತಾಯಿಯನ್ನು ಬಿಗಿಯಾಗಿ ಅಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡಿವೆ ಎಂದು ಗಮನಿಸಿದ. ಆಗ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಅರಿವಾಯಿತು, ಯಶಸ್ಸೆಂಬುದು ಒಂದು ದಿನದ ಫಸಲು ಅಲ್ಲ, ತಾಳ್ಮೆಯ ಬೇರು, ಪರಿಶ್ರಮದ ಕಾಂಡ ಬೆಳೆಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು.
The Lesson of the Firefly (ಮಿಂಚುಹುಳದ ಪಾಠ)
ಒಂದು ಕತ್ತಲು ರಾತ್ರಿ, ಒಂಟಿ ಮಿಂಚುಹುಳ ತನ್ನ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಬೆಳಕಿನಿಂದ ಕತ್ತಲನ್ನು ಸೆಡಿಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಇದನ್ನು ಕಂಡ ಒಬ್ಬ ಕವಿಗೆ ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿಯ ಚಿಲುಮೆ ಹರಿಯಿತು. ಕವಿ ತನ್ನ ಕವಿತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದ, “ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳು ಎಷ್ಟೇ ಚಿಕ್ಕದಾದರೂ, ಒಳಿತಿಗೆ ಬೆಳಕು ಚೆಲ್ಲುವ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಅವುಗಳಿಗಿದೆ.”
The River’s Journey (ನದಿಯ ಪಯಣ)
ಕಾವೇರಿ ತಾಯಿ, ಎತ್ತಿನ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಿಂದ ಹುಟ್ಟಿ, ಕಲ್ಲು ಬಂಡೆಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಹರಿದು, ಕಣಿವೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸವರಿ, ಅಂತಿಮವಾಗಿ ಸಾಗರ ಸೇರುವಳು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನವೂ, ಅಡೆತಡೆಗಳನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ಮುಂದೆ ಸಾಗಬೇಕು. ನದಿಯ ಹರಿವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಲಯವಿದೆ, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಬದುಕಿನಲ್ಲೂ ಒಂದು ಲಯವಿರಲಿ.
The Mango Tree’s Gift (ಮಾವಿನ ಮರದ ಕೊಡುಗೆ)
ಬೇಸಿಗೆಯ ಝಳಕ್ಕೆ ದಾಹ ತೀರಿಸುವ ಮಾವಿನ ಹಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಮರದಿಂದ ಉದುರುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು. ಆ ಮರಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರತಿಫಲವೇನೂ ಬೇಕಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ತನ್ನ ಫಲವನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಧಾರೆಯೆರೆಯುವುದೇ ಅದರ ಉದ್ದೇಶ. ಈ ದೃಶ್ಯ ಕಂಡ ಒಬ್ಬ ದಾರಿಹೋಕನಿಗೆ ನಿಸ್ವಾರ್ಥ ಸೇವೆಯ ಮಹತ್ವ ತಿಳಿಯಿತು.
